Our LSAT clients have entered many different areas of legal practice for many different types of organizations. Some have opted for private-sector careers, at prestigious law firms or prominent businesses. Others work in academia, civil service, or philanthropy. All successful legal careers begin with impressive law school applications, which lead to offers of admission from the programs that produce the best employment outcomes for their alumni. The cost of rigorous LSAT prep is a small price to pay for the lifetime of accomplishment that can result from law school admission.
Prospective law schools usually consider many factors when deciding which programs to target, and employment numbers should be an important part of this, if not the most important. Fortunately, the American Bar Association (ABA) mandates the reporting of employment outcomes as a condition of accreditation. These reports are called "Employment Summaries," and they are publicly viewable on law school websites. The most relevant statistic for most prospective law students is the percentage of graduates who secured long-term, full-time jobs that require bar passage. The most recent summary for Boston University School of Law, for example, shows that approximately 76% of the latest class were able to achieve this most desirable category of employment. About 8% were still seeking employment at the time of the survey, while the remainder held other types of jobs or were pursuing further education. It is important for law school applicants to have a coherent conception of their post-law school goals, which will allow a clear-eyed evaluation of whether or not a given program is likely to help the student achieve those goals. Aspiring law students should also note that there is a very strong correlation between high institutional LSAT score expectations and favorable employment outcomes.

Meet a Bogota LSAT Tutor: Andre R.
Andre R. joined the LSAT teaching staff of Manhattan Review's Bogota office last year after seven years as an LSAT educator in the United States. His LSAT instruction has facilitated admission to a large number of selective law schools in the United States and Canada, and many of his former clients are now successful attorneys working in numerous areas of legal practice.
Andre was educated at the University of Pennsylvania (bachelor of arts in history) and at George Washington University Law School (juris doctor). He spent four years working at a major law firm in Washington, DC, and he is now a legal consultant for a Bogota multinational corporation with business interests in the United States. When he's not practicing law or teaching the LSAT, Andre enjoys boating and tennis.
